Senior Systems Administrator (Azure / Hyper V), Active Secret

DecisionPoint/CORTEK is currently looking for an experienced Senior Windows System Administrator with subject matter expertise in the areas of Windows Platform solutions to support our government customer in the Arlington, VA area.  The ideal candidate proactively ensures the highest level of system integrity and infrastructure availability.

Responsibilities & Duties:
  • Continuous development of new systems while migrating infrastructure capabilities to meet mission requirements and improve operational efficiency
  • Install, configure, test and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools
  • Provide server administration and management for virtual and physical servers. Services focus on building, documenting, operating, maintaining, and sustaining.
  • Coordinates efforts onsite with and reports results to the DOS OIG CIO or designate.
  • Planning for and responding to service outages and other problems, installing system upgrades, managing system resources and optimizing system performance; performing system startup, shutdown, diagnostics, file management, user and group setups, Deploys and configures DHCP and DNS services
  • Support for planning, execution and management of Enterprise data backup, disaster recovery (DR), and continuity of operations (COOP) operations and support.
  • Configures application restriction policies in accordance with Department of State guidelines and industry best practices.
  • Plans network infrastructures services, highly available network services, server virtualization infrastructure, and identity and access solutions       
  • Performs data center management: configuring System Center infrastructure and components, deploying and updating servers, implementing backup and recovery, etc.
  • Monitors network devices, servers, virtualization, application health
  • Implements automation and service offerings
  • Manages compliance, configuration, and updates
  • Implements backup and recovery
  • Configures cloud integration including public and private clouds.
  • Develops/maintains systems configurations and executes administration and operational duties on computer systems while maintaining data/information as required.
  • Installs, configures and maintains commercial off-the-shelf products. Regularly prepares activity and progress reports regarding support activities
  • Assists in the installation, planning and security of computer facilities and organizes training as required and appropriate.
  • Analyzes, evaluates and tests software and hardware to provide issue/problem resolution.
  • Plans network infrastructures services, highly available network services, server virtualization infrastructure, and identity and access solutions
  • Perform Tier 1 through Tier 4 support and troubleshooting of O365 solutions
  • Develop and conduct testing of O365 based solutions
  • Drive continuous improvement and adoption of best practices to simplify, standardize and consolidate the O365 solutions wherever it makes sense, to include tools to ensure ease of use for organization
  • Support Account management and billing optimization via Microsoft’s cloud computing platform Azure
  • Identify opportunities for optimization of Cloud / Azure environment
  • Develop and conduct testing of Azure-based applications and solutions
Required Qualifications: 
  • Active Secret security clearance
  • Seven (7) or more years of experience as a system administrator
  • Virtualization experience with Hyper V experience required
  • Exposure with Azure
  • Ability to manage projects, take ownership and execute objectives in order to meet deadlines
  • Effective written and verbal communication
