Position Objective:
This position is with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Division of Healthcare Quality Promotion (DHQP). Support leadership development and succession planning through qualitative research, training on effective management techniques and strategies, and development of leadership curriculum.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support leadership development and succession planning through qualitative research, training on effective management techniques and strategies, and development of leadership curriculum.
    • This curriculum will include web, classroom and workshop based delivery, and it will also include tips and tricks for leading a growing organization from the division level managing change and enhancing staff engagement and competencies
  • Develop and deliver web-based and in-person classroom training to capacity and capabilities of DHQP, its partners and grantees.
    • Support materials would include handouts, reference materials, visuals and presentations to enhance leadership, coordination, collaboration and team effectiveness, across DHQP, its grantees and partners.
  • Create or refine and support leadership development and staff development initiatives in response to new drivers in healthcare quality
  • Responsible for analyzing overall training requirements and developing the plans, programs, methodologies, curriculums and schedules necessary to meet the requirements for a no-notice deployment in support of the Program mission
  • Work with staff and management to maintain training and educational material
  • Conduct needs analysis, task analysis, develop performance objectives, and create training outlines, lesson plans, visual aides, & skill measurement tools
  • Create course work with practice exercises, knowledge checks and other elements designed to drive knowledge retention; QA final course for accuracy and refresh instructional programs as needed to ensure content is current and relevant
  • Develop methods to evaluate and measure effectiveness of delivered programs
  • Provide a monthly progress report outlining recent tasks and achievements. The monthly progress reports should include, at minimum:
    • Accomplishments during the reporting period
    • Significant events regarding the contract
    • Deliverables/tasks that were submitted or are in progress
    • A list of any current or anticipated problems and proposed solutions
Basic Qualifications:
  • Experience with curriculum and content development within Learning Management Systems and other blended methodologies including eLearning, Virtual and Classroom Learning
  • Demonstrated experience using multimedia tools to create production-ready content for video or web-based courses
  • Experience developing e-learning courses with a platform such as Articulate Storyline or Captivate
  • Experience working with the Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop and InDesign
  • Experience with designing Section 508 compliant learning courses
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing and documentation
  • Must have knowledge of instructional design principles/practices, including adult learning theories, interactive training, and engaging learning design
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelors required/Master's Degree preferred in relevant field
  • 5+ years of experience with learning analysis, strategy, and design and development using defined instructional design methodologies
  • 3+ years of experience in a professional work environment as an instructional designer, educator, or consultant, including the development of learning solutions with measurable outcomes
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office product suite, including PowerPoint, Excel & Word
  • Must be United States citizen or permanent resident or have authorization for employment in the United States
